As a programming language and platform, C# has been around now for quite a while: Almost a dozen versions have gone by since its introduction at the Microsoft 2000 Professional Developers Conference. During that quarter-century-plus timeframe, not only has the context of programming changed, but the industry's approach and perception of "what makes good code" has undergone several significant shifts as well. Naturally, the C# language has sought to embrace and encompass those shifts, which means that coding idioms that seemed natural and intuitive in 2000 no longer do so--and new idioms have emerged over time that, unless you were paying sharp attention, you may not even know about. It's time to reboot your knowledge of C#. In this workshop, we will do exactly that--revisit the C# programming language, taught from the perspective of 2025 and beyond, starting from the core and working outwards. We will look across the entire C# language spectrum, still seeing C# as the multiparadigmatic language that it is (procedural, functional, object, dynamic, and metaobject), but emphasizing the features of the language that most directly express the concept we want our code to have: clarity.
