What do plane crashes and other disasters have to do with our lives as IT professionals? The answer might surprise you! Complacency and failure to create or follow established guidelines can lead to heartbreaking scenarios in our professional lives.

In this non-technical session, we will discuss real-life disasters, their underlying causes, and how these lessons can have an impact on how we approach our day jobs. We will explore some of the most common “disaster-causing” attitudes and behaviors, show real world examples of how they caused tragedy and likewise discover some mitigating attitudes, and how to implement them in our work environments.

Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how small and seemingly innocuous decisions may not individually be detrimental; however, collectively they can lead to disastrous outcomes. They will also leave equipped with tips and tactics to guard against these situations and better ensure that they can rest peacefully at night.

You will learn:

  • That preparation is more than a technical approach
  • Communication with yourself and others
  • Keeping a cool head during pressure situations is a great, but challenging recipe for success
