Human Factors in Engineering

When engineering software systems and processes, one factor key to success that is particularly complex and challenging to account for, and often not proactively focused on, is the human factor. Drucker famously said that "culture eats strategy for breakfast," meaning the best-laid system architectures, cloud strategies, and DevOps pipelines are only as effective as the people and teams who implement them. To be effective, individuals and teams need leaders who are connected, present, and provide clear vision and priorities for alignment. This track focuses on leadership, team empowerment, emotional intelligence, tackling imposter syndrome, effective performance feedback, navigating development project challenges, and increasing adaptability. Sessions also include quick discussions on team metrics and workshops on mastering human factors.
