In this intensive 8-hour workshop, Brian, Mickey, and Ken will explore how intelligent agents are transforming the software development lifecycle through “Agentic DevOps". While many organizations have improved, the software development industry wants to try and move from weeks to plan, months to build, and quarters to launch; and instead transform to ideas become prototypes in hours and reach production in days. Modern teams need new strategies to harness AI throughout their DevOps practices.

We'll begin by exploring how traditional DevOps, DevSecOps, and SRE principles evolve with AI integration. This represents the shift from basic DevOps to "Agentic DevOps”, one that is reimagined for a world where intelligent agents collaborate with you and with each other. Understanding this foundation is crucial as we build platforms that support AI-driven development workflows.

The workshop covers platform engineering strategies for the AI era, where teams must design systems that accommodate GitHub Copilot's new Agent Mode that can analyze entire codebases, make edits across files, generate and run tests, fix bugs, and even suggest terminal commands—all from a single prompt. We'll examine how to architect platforms that enable these capabilities while maintaining security and governance.

A significant focus will be on Azure DevOps and GitHub integration, exploring Microsoft's "better together" story. We'll cover how licensing and how you build a foundation where you code lives in GitHub Repos, but you still use Azure DevOps where you teams need it. We’ll show you how you can develop strategies for hybrid environments that maximize both platforms' strengths. This includes demonstrations of Azure Boards and GitHub Projects for work item management, along with Azure Pipelines and GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation. We'll show practical integration patterns that preserve existing investments while enabling AI capabilities.

Using live demonstrations, we’ll showcase GitHub Copilot's newest coding agent that levels up GitHub Copilot from a pair programmer to peer—working like a full-fledged member of your team. You'll see Agent Mode in action across Visual Studio, VS Code, and JetBrains IDEs, including how AI agents interact with Azure Boards work items and GitHub Projects for seamless workflow integration.

AI-powered operations and SRE practices form another critical component, featuring the new "Azure Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Agent" that monitors production systems around the clock, responding to incidents in real time, and autonomously troubleshooting issues as they arise. We'll demonstrate agent configuration and incident response scenarios that show autonomous remediation capabilities working with both Azure Pipelines and GitHub Actions.

We’ll wrap up the workshop with modernization strategies, showing how to leverage GitHub Copilot for its app modernization capabilities across legacy systems. Interactive demonstrations will include migration scenarios from Azure Repos to GitHub, SRE agent configuration, and real-world app modernization projects that integrate Azure Boards, GitHub Projects, Azure Pipelines, and GitHub Actions.

You will learn:

  • How to implement agentic workflows across your entire development lifecycle
  • Strategic integration of Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise Cloud
  • Practical deployment of AI agents for coding, testing, and operations
  • Modern platform engineering patterns for AI-enabled teams
  • Production-ready SRE automation with Azure and GitHub Copilot
