With the increasing demands to manage unstructured and semi-structured data in the enterprise, Big Data has become a requirement to support more advanced analytics. That could also mean learning new language constructs and architectures that are outside the realms of relational databases. Luckily, SQL Server 2016 introduced PolyBase. This session will introduce you to PolyBase; and how you can use your existing knowledge of T-SQL statements to query data stored in Hadoop and Azure Blob Storage. You'll also learn the underlying architecture to properly install and build SQL Server 2016 infrastructure that can scale out as needs arise.

You will learn:

  • About PolyBase in SQL Server 2016—its architecture and deployment guide
  • How to configure PolyBase in SQL Server 2016 to work with semi-structured and unstructured data in Hadoop and Azure Blob Storage
  • How to integrate semi-structured and unstructured data in Hadoop with relational data in SQL Server for analytics
