With every new version of SharePoint comes new PowerShell cmdlets and new activities you can script. This session will at the PowerShell cmdlets new to SharePoint 2016. From there, you'll move into how to leverage PowerShell to automate tasks and make broad changes across your environment that may affect multiple sites. You'll learn from some examples when writing a PowerShell script helped save time in the long run or provided valuable information to the business. You'll also look at reporting/information gathering within a SharePoint environment and how to leverage PowerShell to gain insights about our farm that may not be available in the GUI.

This session will include lots of demos and "playing" with PowerShell to show what's possible. While the entire session will be done with SharePoint 2016, in most cases the examples and scripts will apply to SharePoint 2013 as well.

You will learn:

  • About updates to PowerShell for SharePoint 2016
  • About SharePoint on-premises administrative tasks you can simplify and perform more quickly with PowerShell
  • How to use PowerShell to help report on the status and health of your SharePoint Environment
